SONAR VISION

The Process

Using agile project management, I worked in a team of 4 electrical engineering students to develop a unique accessibility device targeted at the visually impaired.

Sonar Vision grew from an idea for an ultrasonic range-finder to a tool that would allow the blind to easily judge the distance of objects.

It was remarkable to experience the birth and development of this product, from an idea to a physical working prototype.

The Results

Developing this project gave me the opportunity to expand my skills outside of the skillset required for an electrical engineer.

I used this project as an opportunity to learn more about CAD, and was able to create a fully representative 3D model of our design from scratch, having entered this project with almost no CAD knowledge.

Sonar Vision was able to combine various aspects of my degree into one functional product, showing how different areas of electrical engineering come together to produce a successful product.
